Brie Filled Baklava by Akis Petretzikis

Baklava is definitily one of the most typical Greek Sweets. The crunchy fyllo, the precious nuts and the delicate real honey make an unbeatable combination. This recipe comes from Akis Petretzikis, a great chef that makes even most difficult plates appear easy to make for everyone. Perfect as an alternative Christmas treat, try this alternative baklava with brie.

 

 

What you will need is: 

 

 

For baklava:

 

120 g pistachio nuts, shelled and finely chopped

60 g walnuts, finely chopped

60 g pecans, finely chopped

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

10 sheets of phyllo dough (450 g)

250 g butter, melted

400 g brie cheese, rind removed

 

For syrup:

 

200 g granulated sugar

200 g honey

100 ml water

20 g pistachio nuts, shelled and coarsely chopped, for sprinkling
